Transformer Prime: Hands-on video review highlights hardware, software

We recently gave you a collection of ASUS Transformer Prime video reviews to watch as many consumers in the US wait for their device to arrive after initial shipping delays. Now we have a brand new hands-on video review for you to take a look at, giving you another great close-up look at the device.

If you have a Transformer Prime on pre-order, there’s a good chance that you are still waiting for retailers to ship your device, although some shipping emails we’ve seen from users mostly point to a delivery date before the end of this week. However, some users have to wait a lot longer, with one user in particular receiving a shipping estimation of between January 27 and February 12 2012, which obviously isn’t ideal.

On a more positive note, a new video of the Transformer Prime is now available to view and it comes courtesy of Droid-Life. They have been sent a unit for an early look at the device, and they wasted no time in giving users a quick run-through of the hardware and software featured on the Prime. According to them, the Prime is surprisingly light when placed in the hands, and the sensitivity of the 10.1 IPS capacitive touchscreen is one of the most impressive features of the device.

Another strong point of the Transformer Prime is just how thin the device is – thought to be 8.3mm thin to be exact. The video shows the thinness of the Prime compared to the likes of the Droid RAZR, the Motorola Xoom and also the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. On the software side, the video confirms that the Transformer Prime won’t ship with a pure version of Google Honeycomb, as the device does come with some custom ASUS themes, such as a separate settings menu aside from the usual Android Honeycomb settings.

Check out the video for yourself below and let us know your thoughts on it. Has your Transformer Prime arrived yet, or are you still waiting?
