Toyota and More Fines for Japanese Automaker

Japanese Automaker Toyota should not think that they are out of trouble just yet following their record fine as U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has said that there is the possibility that Toyota will face more fines if they do not improve efforts over safety.

Toyota has not been out of the news all year — a result of an influx of recalls over a number of safety issues. The main recall was on the Prius Hybrid, but more have followed since — even spreading to its once bulletproof Lexus brand.

According to a report on Associated Press, LaHood has been happy with the progress that Toyota has made with improving communication with U.S. regulators. However, he now waits to see if these new measure are effective.

LaHood has warned that he would like to see more progress from Toyota, if not then more fines could be possible. We do find it strange that with the huge number of recalls in 2010, the Japanese automaker is still showing great promise in its stock prices, which you can read more about in the AP link above.
