Toshiba C55D-A5382 laptop specs review

If you are on the lookout for a cheap and reliable laptop ideal for some light multimedia tasks and not much else, then you could consider the Toshiba C55D-A5382 laptop with its with AMD A4 Quad Core APU. This laptop is part of the Satellite C55D series and should only be considered if you don’t want much from your device.

Not all laptops have to have top-tier specs because most of us just want something that covers the basics, and that is exactly what you get with the Toshiba C55D-A5382.

The main part of any laptop is not its screen but its processor, and doing the donkeywork on the A5382 is the AMD A4-5000 quad core processor, but don’t expect anything impressive because it lacks the turbo feature of other CPUs.

However, its 1.5GHz clockspeed is more than up to light multimedia tasks, and the 4GB of DDR3 RAM is just enough to help run limited programs and several tabs at once.

It’s not just the specs that are limited, as the design of the Toshiba C55D-A5382 laptop is also very basic and budget friendly with its plastic finish.

Having said that, Toshiba did not profess this to be anything else when it was released. If you purchased one expecting great things, then you only have yourself to blame.

If you are still on the fence, then we’d just like to let you know some of the other specs, which include a 500GB hard drive, 15.6-inch HD diagonal widescreen TruBrite TFT display, SuperMulti DVD burner and much more.

The sound is the worst I’ve ever heard on a laptop. The quality is so bad that even head phones that otherwise sound good on other computers/devices sound awful. I’m currently trying to find some 3rd party drivers that might improve the audio. Other than that, I guess my only other complaint is that I thought I’d love having a keypad on my laptop, which this does (full keyboard). Problem is, this pushes the main keys and the touch pad to the left about 3 inches so my hands are slightly off center. I’ll get used to it with time,… Read more »
