TomTom Runner Cardio review highlights features

It has now been a year since TomTom released its Runner and Multi-Sport watches, and with the huge interest in wearable devices like these, it was obvious that the GPS maker wanted to release something new. The TomTom Runner Cardio GPS Watch is the answer and on paper it has the makings to be a superb companion to help you get and keep fit.

How many of you out there exercise, but use an awkward chest strap in order to monitor your heart rate? Okay, so we know that there are so many devices like the Runner Cardio out there, but a review of its features shows how TomTom aims to do things a little different.

Heart rate Monitor — One of the most important features with devices like these is to measure the heart rate as accurately as possible, and so TomTom makes use of innovative technology that measures your heart rate without the use of a chest strap. Instead, this is measured through a sensor within the device, and can detect changes to blood flow by shining a light through your skin. Tests have shown that this system really does work, and isn’t one of those gimmicks that is unable to back the claims up.

Heart Rate Zone — One of the other features that need to be highlighted in this TomTom Runner Cardio review is the ability to select a zone for different training goals. We can see that there are five zones with varying intensities. We found that these zones are Easy, Fat Burn, Endure, Speed and finally, Sprint.

Having these zones will make it much easier for you to reach your goals, as these are very similar to systems put in place in gyms throughout the world. Time and again people make the mistake of going over the top, when their bodies were unable to cope, this way TomTom allows you to train your body slowly, and then increase intensity when you feel you are ready for the next level.

TomTom Runner Cardio features

Running Information — We have reviewed several devices like the Runner Cardio over the years, and it is good to see how they have evolved, and so it is nice to see TomTom include running information in real-time, allowing you to track your pace, calories burnt, distance and compare these to previous runs.

Key Selling Points:

  • Innovative Technology
  • Highly Accurate
  • Different Intensity Zones
  • Full Screen Graphics
  • Multi-platform Compatibility

The TomTom Runner Cardio has the makings to be a great companion in your effort to keep fit, although we do fear that its price will put some people off. You will be able to purchase the TomTom Runner Cardio GPS Watch for $269.99, more details of which can be found on
