Thor 2 The Dark World ties in with Avengers Alliance

Fans of the upcoming movie Thor 2: The Dark World are going to be in for an extra treat. It has just been announced at the Comic Con 2013 New York event that the popular Marvel game Avengers Alliance is going to feature a tie-in Spec Ops 14 event which coincides with events from the movie.

We saw the exact same pattern emerge with a special Iron Man 3 spec ops event which coincided with the movie earlier this year, and it looks like Marvel are set to follow up with another event for Thor 2. There is no Avengers Alliance Spec Ops 14 release date yet as far as we’re aware, but since Thor 2 hits cinemas on November 8 – it must be coming around or exactly on this date.

What we can tell you though is the rewards for completing Spec Ops 14. As announced in New York just hours ago, you’ll be able to complete missions to unlock none other than Heimdall, protector of Asgard with god-like strength and the ability to see and hear everything around him.

It gets better though, Marvel is making the bold move in bringing Loki as a playable lockbox character. However, it won’t be the Loki that we have seen in game so far, it will actually be a model that is based from Tom Hiddleston’s character in the Thor and Avenger movies.

This is an amazing treat for fans, although obviously the facial features won’t be exactly like the actor unfortunately.

Just like the upcoming movie, the big villain is going to be Malekith, while we can confirm that there will be a new group boss as well – Kurse, an arch-enemy of Thor and a character that will also appear in Thor 2 The Dark World.

It is going to be a very exciting November for Avengers Alliance players. Let’s just hope that Playdom doesn’t forget to fix up the countless existing bugs in the game, which still ruin the experience for many players today.

There’s also ongoing problems with the company releasing premium items for $15 a piece, which are actually broken-upon release which is very naughty indeed. These issues appear to be slipping under the radar unnoticed with the constant releases for the game, and isn’t helped by the official forum moderators who consistently close unanswered problem threads – leaving Playdom to happily continue with their practices unpunished.

We can’t wait for this special Thor 2 spec ops 2 to begin. Heimdall is a big surprise, so let us know your thoughts on the event below. Do you agree that the game is still in a somewhat ‘laughable’ state though with the sheer amount of bugs in the game? Just try and stun a character on a counter attack and see what happens – this very bug has not been fixed since the game launched.
