Thor 2 The Dark World movie to coincide with game

Comic Con 2013 was an amazing occasion for all Marvel fans, especially for those who are looking forward to seeing the likes of Loki and Thor in Thor 2: The Dark World. That movie will won’t be out until November 2013, but now we have confirmation that the film will also be joined by an official mobile game, once again being developed by Gameloft.

If you have played Iron Man 3 on your mobile device, you’ll know that Gameloft are no strangers to developing a Marvel-based game. The problem here, is that Iron Man 3 wasn’t exactly amazing and received mixed reviews upon release – so how does it feel knowing that our fate once again lies with Gameloft in delivering the official game for Thor 2: The Dark World?

At Comic Con, a teaser trailer was released for the upcoming game, which has now been confirmed for a release both on iOS and Android devices. Like Iron Man 3, Thor 2 The Dark World is going to be free to download, but will again support in-app purchases as you go along.

We’re guessing that premium currency will be needed to unlock some of Thor’s more desirable moves, but we’re also hoping that all of the game’s abilities can be unlocked for those still willing to put in the effort to grind. The trailer looks decent enough for a mobile game, but you may have already decided that you don’t really want to see another endless hack and slash adventure.

Hopefully we’ll be able to go hands-on with Thor 2: The Dark World as soon as possible, to give you an exact idea of how the free-to-play model will operate. Let us know your initial thoughts on the game, knowing that Gameloft is again on development duties. Here’s a question on top: If you could pick one developer to oversee all future Marvel games, both console and mobile – who would you choose?
