Thief PS4, Xbox One release date days away

Thief is the upcoming Xbox One and PS4 release from Square Enix and this stealth game developed by Eidos Montreal is a reboot of the cult classic Thief series. This will be the fourth title in the franchise that will also be bracing the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, releasing within the next week in some regions.

Initially announced back in 2009 as Thief 4, this game was only officially revealed in March 2013, and we have been hearing great things about this in various previews. The game involves players taking control of Garrett, a master thief, as he goes out on missions to steal from the rich using stealth to complete the tasks at hand. According to gameplay details the violence involved is only used as a last resort as this choice-driven title promotes different directions and paths on each level.

In an informative article on Arabic Gamers they highlight comments made by the Thief developers suggesting they had to dumb the AI down, as earlier builds made them so intelligent they had to revaluate how realistic they wanted the guards to be.

Director Nic Cantin claims the guards were finding Garrett too easily and they had to look into this so that players stood a chance. While some hardcore gamers may like the idea of a really difficult title, we understand that they have to tone things down slightly to make sure the fun element is still apparent, especially for newcomers.

In addition, Examiner discusses how the Thief level designer is thrilled for players to conquer custom mode, as Daniel Windfeld Schmidt comments on the game’s custom difficulty mode. He says, “he cannot wait to see who finds all the hidden secrets,” and expresses his excitement about the completion of the game with all the Custom Mode switches on.

Thief PS4 and Xbox One releases are expected at the same time as the other platforms with North America receiving this on the 25th February, while those in Australia will get it two days later on the 27th, and European gamers will see this release on the 28th February. Are you looking forward to the imminent Thief release date?
