If you needed another reason why The Witcher 3 is going to be one of the best games to own in 2015, developers CD Projekt Red have just given it to you. The famed team who already had a glowing reputation is now announcing that they are giving away free The Witcher 3 DLC in order to say thank you to the gamers.
It is not often we see this kind of generosity in a gaming industry where publishers cannot wait to get their Season Passes out so that they can bump up game purchases to $100 a time.
It’s a lot of money in reality though and CD Project Red understands this. In an open letter, Marcin IwiÅ„ski, co-founder and Joint CEO of CD Projekt Red has spoken about how he sees it from a gamer perspective.
When specifically talking about add-on content and Season Passes that we see with almost every big game release, he simply had this to say:
“Haven’t we just paid a lot of CASH for a brand new game?”
That speaks volume by itself and as a result they are giving away 16 pieces of DLC for The Witcher 3 at no extra cost. There’s no hidden catch with this and you DON’T have to pre-order the game beforehand to receive it.
You don’t even have to buy a special edition of The Witcher 3 to get the content, simply own a copy by any means and they are yours. The Witcher 3 free DLC release date will commence from February 25th, when CD Projekt Red will offer Temerian Armor Set with horse armor and a Beard and Hairstyle Set for Geralt.
After that date, free DLC will continue to arrive every week in a package containing two pieces of DLC. We’re a bit lost for words on this act of generosity from CD Projekt Red in all honesty.
Can you remember the last time when a game developer acted like this? For example, Imagine EA giving away 20 Gold packs for Ultimate Team away without any catch and Activision giving away 4 map packs for COD Advanced Warfare for free – it just wouldn’t happen.
Give us your reaction to this move from CD Projekt Red – is this the kind of gaming industry you once loved to be a part of? Make sure you pre-order The Witcher 3 here if you want to show your support.
