The Witcher 3 delay reaction on PS4, Xbox One, PC

In case you haven’t heard the big news this week yet, unfortunately one of the planned big hitters The Witcher 3 has been delayed on PS4, Xbox One and PC. This is going to hurt fans after seeing recent delays for Watch Dogs and Driveclub, but hurt PC owners more so who may believe that next-gen versions are to blame.

In a scenario which appears to be happening many times this year, we have another game delay on our hands. We had tipped The Witcher 3 to be one of the potential games of 2014, but now we have to wait until February 2015 at the least to see the effort from the respected developers at CD Projekt Red.

As you can expect, apologies have been made by CD Projekt Red along with the reasoning that they simply want to spend more time on the game in order to ‘reach the quality that everyone expects’.

CD Projekt Red have added that the delay will allow them to provide everyone with an unforgettable adventure, one which will feature a vast open world and graphics that will be amazing visually and cinematically.

Is the delay specifically down to next-gen development though? Let’s not forget the important fact that this is the first Witcher game that CD Project Red has to spend extra time on building for next-gen hardware. The Witcher 2 was ported to Xbox 360 in 2012, while the first Witcher game was exclusive to PC and Mac.

There’s some theories out there that PS4 and Xbox One versions could be the reason why The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt isn’t due out this year. It also needs to be said that the Xbox One resolution issue has been well documented with each game release, so could CD Projekt Red be spending extra time on the same to specifically ensure that we are not having the same 1080p Vs 720p argument in February 2015?

It’s well worth thinking about, but either way we can’t wait for the game to come out as you can tell it is going to be an instant success given the popularity of the series so far.

Give us your reaction to the delay and also your honest feelings on why it possibly could have been delayed in the first place.

Worst news ever 🙁 Can it get any worse? If I hear that Dragon Age Inquisition has been delayed that would be nearly as bad. Or worse still, that Fallout 4 is 2016 or has been cancelled or even worse…that F4 (if TESO succeeds) becomes a pay-to-play, MMORPG.
And what is this about Watch Dogs? Last heard it was given a firm May 2014 release date? Tell me that is still the case. Please.
