The Witcher 3 release date is current set for 24 February, 2015, and this means there’s still a few factors not decided on with 7 months to go until the launch month. One of these factors is the matter of resolution and in particular whether the game will run at 1080p on Xbox One and PS4.
Game developer CD Projekt Red confirmed this week that the detail of resolution hasn’t been set in stone. While The Witcher 3 team remains optimistic they will manage 1080p and 60fps, it’s still a possibility this could not be so during optimization of the game and things could change.
Tomasz Tinc is marketing manager for The Witcher 3 and he explained some people will be expecting details like frame rate and resolution, but this information is “impossible” until the “optimization process” is finished.

We’ve already heard rumors pointing towards no 1080p for console versions, although this is still speculation until game optimization is complete. For now, take a look at water graphics, how the The Witcher 3 map size compares to Skyrim, and also 37 minutes of gameplay below.
Will you be disappointed if The Witcher 3 lacks 1080p and 60fps on PS4 or Xbox One after game optimization?
