Earlier on we informed you about the refreshing news that Sony intends to bring the PlayStation Store online by the end of the week in the US and Europe. However, that’s where the good news ends as a group of hackers have just warned that a fresh attack on Sony is imminent.
The threats have been carried out by hacking group LulzSec, who are in the headlines at the moment for hijacking the US PBS website to publish a fake story informing the world that rapper Tupac was still alive and was living in New Zealand with Notorious B.I.G.
However, after claiming responsibility for that attack, they are now going after Sony, confirming that they are working on a ‘new operation’. Check out the following Twitter message posted by one of it’s members below:
“We’re working on another Sony operation. We’ve condensed all our excited tweets into this one: this is the beginning of the end for Sony.”
They later added: ‘‘Our #Sonage (Sony + ownage) is going at maximum speed, there’s a lot to do”
At the moment, it’s unclear whether the group were responsible for the attacks on the PlayStation Network and PlayStation Store, but a report over at VG247 confirms that they were responsible for an attack on Sony BMG in Japan last week, so it’s definitely possible.
After perhaps bringing a smile to your face earlier with the news that the Store would be returning before the end of the week, you have to say that this is a bit of a heart-sinker for PS3 fans all over the world.
We’re hoping that Sony’s reinforced PSN security will be able to deal with any new attacks that are forthcoming, but we’ll have to wait and see. Give us your thoughts on the disturbing messages from the hackers.
