Tesco offers best Mass Effect 3 price in UK, undercuts the rest

Mass Effect 3 is already out in the US of course, but if you are just waking up in the UK and planning to pick up the game, you’ll be unsurprised to hear that supermarkets have once again beat off competition from retailers in the ongoing price wars.

The supermarket vs retailer price wars first seemed to kick off with the likes of Modern Warfare 2 and FIFA 11, but for many gamers these days, supermarkets are the number one option for picking up their favorite games on day one. This has become even more apparent with the ongoing crisis regarding GAME as it has been confirmed that they won’t be stocking Mass Effect 3 in any of their stores.

As sad as this is, it won’t deter too many of you who were planning to pick up the game from supermarkets anyway. Places like Morrisons, Asda and Tesco are now the topic of conversation amongst gamers and we’ve seen that Tesco may have the best offer available.

The game is retailing in supermarkets and online from places like and Amazon for around £38, but most of you bargain spotters have also noticed that there is a promo code available at Tesco, which allows you to buy the game online with a £5 discount. That means that you can pick up the Xbox 360 or PS3 version for just £32.70, which really is a fantastic deal.

Amazon are usually spot on when it comes to beating their competitors with the best price as we saw with the PS Vita launch, but they are yet to lower their price to reflect the deal that Tesco are offering. It doesn’t bode well for GAME and Gamestation when you see supermarkets go out of their way to cut them out of the picture, but from a customer perspective it doesn’t really matter too much, as long as you are getting the game for as less as possible.

What are your thoughts on Tesco undercutting everyone on Mass Effect 3 – do you feel a little bit sorry for GAME and their situation or not? Let us know where you picked up the game from.
