Tesco 24-hour shopping ends for these list of stores

Tesco cannot seem to keep out of the headlines this week, as the latest news would suggest that people that take advantage of 24-hour shopping has fallen. It’s for this very reasons why the UK’s largest supermarket chain have evaluated their current stores staying open round the clock, and will now close some of them early.

Almost 20 per cent of Tesco stores will no longer offer 24-hour shopping, and is to take effect from March 14, 2016 onwards. A list of stores no longer staying up round the clock can be found HERE.

One of the reasons why demand has fallen is because more people are choosing to do their shopping online, and so can order what they want from the comfort of their home and wait for it to be delivered the next day, or take advantage of click and collect.

Many workers will be shocked to read this and will fear their jobs are now at risk, but Tesco has said there will be a minimal impact on jobs – although that still means there will be some job loses.

From the 400 Tesco stores that stay open 24 hours, 76 of them will no longer do so. We have looked at our local store, and are pleased it will be staying open throughout the day, although not sure how many times we have actually used it.

Going back to job losses, as one of the reasons there will be a minimal impact is because those staff that would have been on the tills will now be able to replenish stock during the night to make certain they are full again once the doors open in the mornings.

How do you feel about this news, or does it not matter to you?
