These days it seems as if almost anyone can be fooled into thinking that a rogue application is in fact genuine, the latest annoyance which seems to be infecting people’s computers is System Tool 2011, in this article we hope to help you remove this infection.
Below we have embedded an image showing System Tool 2011, this is an illegitmate program which trys to fool you into paying for a full version by reporting fake problems with your computer, if this program is showing up on your computer please do not give the hackers any of your hard earned cash.
You can see a full guide on how to remove this infection here, however I have summarized things to make it a much easier process, the first thing you must do is download a few useful tools, click on them to download them and copy the files to a CD or flash drive. Here are the tools RKill, CCleaner and Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.
Step 1 – Start you computer in Safe Mode with Networking, to do this press F8 as you computer starts up and then choose Safe Mode with Networking from the list, if you are having trouble with this step check out our guide here.
Step 2 – Once Safe Mode starts up you much login to an account, choose one with admin rights and then install CCleaner from your CD / flash drive, once installed open up CCleaner and click cleaner in the top right hand corner of the app and then Run Cleaner in the bottom right hand corner of the app, this will then clear all unnecessary file build up (which will speed up the rest of the removal process).
Step 3 – This step is simple, run RKill. On Vista and Windows 7 you may have to right click the program and click “Run as Administrator”, once clicked this program automatically ends any processes associated with infections.
Step 4 – Now we must install Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware (mbam), the installation is quick and simple, just press next, next, continue etc, once installed open up the program, there are a few tabs across the top, simply click update and “Check for Updates”, this will update mbam’s definitions, now click on the scanner tab and run a full scan. The scan will take a while, once finished click “Show Results” and then click “Remove Selected”, you will have to restart your PC, however System Tool 2011 should now be gone.
The removal process is now complete, however I would recommend a few proactive actions, firstly install all critical Windows Updates, secondly update your antivirus software’s definitions, if you do not have any you should seriously consider installing AVG
