SXSW (South by Southwest) Interactive is the currently ongoing event that is taking place in Texas, that hosts five days of presentations from some of the smartest brains in emerging technology. Today we have news of the latest emergence to come out of the event, which is SCVNGR’s vision of the location-based gaming.
The announcement made at the event came from SCVNGR’s 22 year-old ‘Chief Ninja’ Seth Priebatsch. It’s a revolutionary concept that has so far only been touched on by other companies with things like ‘Check In’ on Facebook.
The vision would work similarly to how Facebook’s ‘Check In’ where there would be a social networking element which would allow you to share your location, communicate and share other information but also allow you to play the games and challenges that are set in order to gain points that earn you ‘real world rewards.’
While at the event Priebatsch outlined how he would like to incorporate this method of reward into schools changing the way we learn. Check out the full article from Erica Naone at Technology Review for more details about SCVNGR’s visions.
