Surface RT 2nd generation confirmation naivety

We’ve know for a while that Microsoft plans to make a new range of Surface products, with a smaller rumored to be one of them, although we have no idea as to what the others will be. The reason we say this is because sales of the Surface RT and Pro have not been that good, with the former being the worst performing of the two.

One would assume that Microsoft would do away with the RT model and put more effort into the Pro, but this may not be the case if a recent report from CNET as anything to go by. The report regarding the Surface RT 2nd generation confirmation explains that Nvidia will once again be providing the processor and believe that it will be a far better product this time.

What confuses us is why Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang believes the current RT was a failure in the first place, and that was because it lacked Outlook at launch — is he for real?

There are many reasons why the Surface RT was a failure, and the lack of Outlook was not one of them.

Top of that list is the price, as we all know the RT price was too high at launch, and has led to Microsoft admitting as such and delivering two price drops. This means the Surface RT 2nd generation price will need to be aggressive considering the market is aggressive.

The RT also lacked in quality, exclusive apps, inconsistent OS, and also confusion with the Pro model, which we put down to poor marketing on Microsoft’s part.

What would you change to make the Surface RT 2 more of a success?
