Surface 3 vs. 2015 MacBook Air in unlikely comparison

You would assume that the new Surface 3 would be compared to the iPad Air 2, which it has been, but seeing as though some of its specs are on par with the 2015 MacBook Air, this has also seen a few unlikely comparisons. The Surface Pro 3 model is a very competent device, and so this new version takes many of its qualities and makes it cheaper, while not trying to sacrifice too much in terms of user experience.

It does seem like a unlikely thing to compare a touchscreen tablet with a non-touch laptop, but as you know the Surface 3 can transform into a capable laptop with the use of Microsoft’s keyboard cover.

A recent Surface 3 vs. 2015 MacBook Air comparison from Gizmag has looked at many key aspects of each device to see just how they differ This is ideal for those sitting on the fence and wondering which of the two would best suit their needs — only if open to different platforms that is.

2015 MacBook Air compared to Surface 3

In the comparison tens of key features have been pitted against each other, so that you can come to your own conclusion as to which will better suit your needs. This includes things like form factor, build, display, processor, storage, battery life, connectivity, and most importantly, starting price.

If you are one of those still undecided, just remember that the Surface 3 is around $220 cheaper than the 11-inch MacBook Air 2015 refresh, even with the keyboard cover and Surface Pen. However, this does come at a cost because you only get 64GB of storage compared to twice that for the Air. When you upgrade the new Surface 3 device to 128GB, then the difference in price is just $120, making it an even tougher decision.

One thing that the Surface 3 does have going for it, and that is LTE, and also the fact that Microsoft has confirmed that it is to offer an unlocked LTE version down the line.
