Super Smash Bros Wii U gameplay intros Megaman

Nintendo had promised some big game reveals during their E3 Direct broadcasts, and we’re pleased to say that the company definitely delivered. The Wii U may have been taking a bit of a pounding from critics lately, but it has to be said that there are some fantastic first-party games on the way – one of them being Super Smash Bros.

At long last, Nintendo finally unveiled the game for the first time, showing off two gameplay trailers for the game and confirming that Super Smash Bros for the Wii U and also the Nintendo 3DS will have a 2014 release date. The game is being developed by Namco Bandai remember and we already have our first new addition to the roster – Megaman.

Nintendo has answered fan’s wishes by putting the popular Capcom character into the game, complete with his trademark arsenal of weaponry that he will be able to scan through depending on the situation. The graphics we have to say are looking top notch, even the Nintendo 3DS version which will come with cross-platform abilities with the Wii U.

All of the usual suspects will be there: Mario, Luigi, Link, Pikachu, Donkey Kong, Bowser and so on. We also have confirmation that the villager from Animal Crossing will be included as well. Expect more character reveals to happen though as the months go on – some Tekken fighters and more Capcom characters perhaps?

The wait has obviously been a long one, but with the way the game is looking, we would prefer Nintendo and Namco Bandai to take as long as they need – we all know it is going to be amazing upon release. On a side note, it is also disappointing to see a lack of third party games for the Wii U – but does the system really need them with great games like Super Smash Bros on the way?

Watch the video above to see two trailers for Super Smash Bros – one of the main game and the other for the Megaman reveal. Tell us what roster you want to see for the game.
