Street Fighter X Tekken: New characters and gameplay preview from TGS 2011

We have some great news for fans of Street Fighter and Tekken now, as Capcom has just showed off the latest build of upcoming crossover brawler Street Fighter X Tekken at the ongoing Tokyo Game Show expo in Japan.

We know a lot of you are unsure on whether or not this game will blend well with both franchises, but after watching this latest showing of the game, we have to say we’re pretty impressed with the direction that Capcom are taking it. Unlike Street Fighter IV, it seems to us that Capcom are taking a more laid-back approach with the game, so it appeals to a more-broader audience, compared to say Street Fighter III: Third Strike which is definitely more inclined for the Street Fighter expert.

Don’t forget that Namco will also have their version of the crossover on the way which will place a heavier emphasis on the Tekken universe with Street Fighter on the side, although details on this game are still very much unknown as both parties look to give each other breathing space as they continue to develop the game.

This latest trailer from Capcom introduces the new characters that were previously highlighted in recent teaser videos, and in case you didn’t work out who they were, they are Kuma, Lili and Heihachi from the Tekken side and Zangief, Ibuki and Rolento from the Street Fighter side – pretty good additions if you ask me, especially Rolento. Kuma looks a tad bit ‘arcadey’ though, hopefully Tekken X Street Fighter will bring back his more mature model that we’re used to seeing.

Also announced in the trailer are new game modes: Pandora, Scramble and Briefing. Pandora will give players an extra energy boost whilst fighting at the expense of sacrificing your tag team partner. Scramble brings a crazy 4 players on screen brawl match-up, while Briefing is an online training room which lets you practice moves and combos with a friend until you perfect them – another useful addition.

We’ve included the trailer for you below, make sure you check it out as the fresh gameplay for all the new characters is unmissable stuff. What are your thoughts on this new pandora mode – do you like the idea of a power boost or not?
