If you haven’t heard the breaking news within the last hour, co-Founder of Apple Steve Jobs has died. At the age of just 56, it appears that Job’s battle with pancreatic cancer was just too great to overcome. We want to hear your best memories of the man in tribute.
Naturally, Twitter and Facebook are also in a state of shock with the news about Steve’s death slowing becoming a reality. Tributes on Twitter are pouring in as we speak, some of which we have included below:
”RIP Steve Jobs. You left your mark on our desks, on our ears & in our hands.’‘ – Darren Rovell
”RIP Steve Jobs. What an inspiration. People can only dream of touching as many people’s lives as you have. God bless.” – Kenny Wayne Shepherd
”It’s rare that the loss of one person can truly leave the world a much emptier place, RIP Steve Jobs.” – Joe Quesada.
Tech site Gizmodo, who had a stormy relationship with Jobs at best have set up a video tribute in honor of the great man, which you can check out here if you’re interested in seeing that too.
Well known tech and celebrities from around the world are also sending their tributes in to Jobs. We told you about Microsoft’s Bill Gates tribute here, but below are a few other messages that have just come in:
”Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you.” – Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg
“Steve, your passion for excellence is felt by anyone who has ever touched an Apple product” – Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin
“Rest in peace, Steve Jobs. From all of us at #Obama2012, thank you for the work you make possible every day–including ours.” – Barack Obama
“He was a great man with incredible achievements and amazing brilliance” – Larry Page, Google Co-Founder
We leave you with a few quotes from Steve Jobs himself, the first of which is my personal favorite:
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life.”
“Being the richest man in the cemetery doesn’t matter to me … Going to bed at night saying we’ve done something wonderful… that’s what matters to me.”
”My job is not to be easy on people. My job is to make them better.”
”We’re not going to be the first to this party, but we’re going to be the best.”
That last quote in particular stands out for us. If you have any personal tributes or favorite quotes from Steve, you can share your thoughts with us below.
