Steve Jobs on Facebook and iTunes 10 / Ping Integration

Steve Job’s announced a whole host of new updates yesterday for the iPods, Apple TV and iTunes; we also had the announcement of the new social network for music called Ping. This has been integrated into iTunes 10 and has a striking resemblance to the experience that can be found on Facebook.

Kara Swisher of All Things Digital managed to have a quick conversation with the man himself. She asked the Apple CEO why Ping is currently not on Facebook, and Job’s replied that Apple has had talks with Facebook about some unspecified partnerships related to Ping, but they went nowhere.

According to Jobs the reason why the talks did not come to anything is that Facebook wanted “onerous terms that we could not agree to.” He would not go in to the troublesome terms or say if Ping would incorporate Facebook Connect, he just said “We could, I guess.”

And when asked how to find friends he said “You can type their names into search or send them emails inviting them to join.” Steve Job’s quickly moved onto the new iPods saying “Isn’t the nano amazing?”
