Steam Controller AA battery life is 80 hours

For those that have been looking forward to getting their hands on the highly anticipated Steam Controller, you’ll be pleased to hear that Valve has now released an official introduction to their upcoming product.

More importantly though, we wanted to remind those of you who are still unaware that the Steam Controller will run on AA batteries, rather than feature a rechargable battery.

Valve has officially stated in their product description that the Steam Controller AA battery life can provide up to 80 hours – based on their internal tests and based on the AA batteries that are included inside the box.

Of course, battery life is going to vary depending on which brand you buy as always – but 80 hours is a pretty nice figure in the build-up to launch.

Valve are trying to bridge the gap between controller and mouse preference for gamers, combining haptic feedback and custom controls to even allow games designed for mouse and keyboard – to be played on the Steam Controller.

Now you can get a good look at how this works by checking out the preview video below. It really does look impressive seeing those RTS and FPS games on Steam translate over to the controller combined with Steam Big Picture mode.

Take a look and let us know what you think about the Steam Controller. Are AA batteries a problem for you or not?
