State of Decay multiplayer requirements for next game

State of Decay may be the best Xbox Live game to land on Xbox 360 for as far as we can remember, but if there was one criticism to make it is definitely due to the lack of a multiplayer mode. Fortunately, the developers over at Undead Labs are well aware that a co-op mode is top of the requested featured list and have dropped big hints that multiplayer will definitely be available, by the time the next State of Decay game launches.

Earlier this week, we told you that title update 2 had gone live for the game, adding a significant amount of bug fixes to the title which should make your gameplay experience a lot more pleasurable. While the gameplay continues to be addictive for new players, those who have been playing since launch are starting to notice the lack of a multiplayer mode – with the open world nature of the game crying out for a co-op element.

Unfortunately, it looks like the chances of multiplayer happening in a DLC update are slim as well – a prospect that many of you hoped would happen. A series of tweets has revealed that plans were definitely in place to bring multiplayer via DLC, but in the end were cut due to unforeseen circumstances.

As some of you might know, a future State of Decay game with the codename ‘Class4’ is already in the pipeline. It is obviously early days yet, but considering the success of the first game it is almost certain to be fast tracked by Microsoft to get the game out as soon as possible.

When it does, multiplayer must be a safe bet as one of the inclusions right out of the box. If you have been playing State of Decay since launch, let us know your thoughts on the game at the moment. Are you a bit shocked that there isn’t any sort of multiplayer, or are you happy to keep playing within the current format?
