Start Skyrim DLC with Fort Dawnguard quest

Having not turned on the Xbox 360 in a while we had to install the latest system software update, a patch for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and even add some more Microsoft Points before being able to download the Skyrim Dawnguard DLC. Following on from our post earlier about the install size and the downloadable content going live, we thought a quick post about how to start with Skyrim Dawnguard quests would be helpful while we review the add-on.

If you are not used to installing game add-ons for the Xbox 360 then let us recap how easy it is to get started. You only need to jump onto the Marketplace and go to Skyrim for a list of extras, or you could also press “X” on the game to find a list of downloads as well. Once you download the Skyrim Dawnguard DLC you only need to start playing the game.

Some of our readers thought you would launch into a different add-on, but this isn’t the case and instead you will access Dawnguard from the normal gameplay, although you can see the add-on within the Skyrim main menu. If this is the first time you have played Skyrim then it will take a while before starting the Dawnguard expansion, which is thanks to having to start the story and this includes escaping the dragon attack while your hands are tied.

If you are above level 10 then getting started with Skyrim Dawnguard is really simple, which starts with a quick visit to any town guard and they should mention the vampire threat. The trigger comes when the guard talks about a group that is hunting the vampires, Dawnguard, and after this you can see your first quest for the Skyrim DLC, which is finding “Fort Dawnguard“.

Currently this is as far as we got with the new Skyrim Dawnguard, but we look forward to following the quests and giving you our full review in the coming days. It’s worth noting that the markers on the map are slightly out, so if you arrive at the place exactly where the marker points it will likely be in a slightly different place. Once you are at Fort Dawnguard you can start enjoying the new quest line.

Have you downloaded Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC yet, and if so how have you found it so far? You can see a video we found on YouTube below, which shows you the trigger we spoke about above.

@ Ro Bird: You’ll find a cave near that wall that won’t let you pass. Go through that cave and you’ll find the fort.
