Starbucks has been making several improvements to its app, with the ability to pay via your phone one of the more popular features. However, another was launched yesterday, and that was Starbucks mobile ordering, although it does have its limitations.
Adam Brotman, Starbucks’ chief digital officer has said this latest feature will only be available in Portland and only for the iPhone, so yet another snub for Android users. He did say this new way to order will be slowly rolled out to other regions in 2015, but there is no mention of an international rollout.
This means the Starbucks mobile ordering coming to the UK in 2015 is very unlikely, which is a blow for coffee lovers that want an easier way to order their favorite beverage in the Unitied Kingdom.
Back to the app, which is in beta and allows coffee lovers the ability to pay for their drink even before they arrive in a Starbucks store, which should make the whole process much faster. People will not need to line up waiting to pay, giving Barista’s more time to prepare beverages.
Starbucks Mobile Order & Pay is something that customers have been asking for and so it was only a matter of time before the service went live. Brotman was recently interviewed by The Oregonian, where he answers question on why Portland was selected as the test region, and a walkthrough of how the new feature works.
Are you upset that your region was not choosen?
