Back in October of last year we brought our readers more details on the “Starbucks Mobile Payments” app, which allows users to pay for their Starbucks coffee with their smartphones. At that time, the system was only available in selected stores across the U.S.
However, a recent press release over on the news.starbucks.com website has announced that the “Starbucks Mobile Payments” system is now available in all U.S. company-operated stores. The app also enables users to manage their card account, check their balance and even check their rewards status.
All you have to do to experience the mobile payment system is download the free Starbucks Card Mobile App onto your selected BlackBerry smartphone or Apple iPhone. You can read how to download the app for your iPhone here, and how to get it for your BlackBerry smartphone here.
Aaron McPherson from pcworld.com got to experience the Starbucks Card Mobile App for himself recently. One thing Aaron noted was the fact that the app doesn’t just work on its own. Customers do have to buy a Starbucks card first, in order to enter the card number and PIN into the app.
You can read more of the hands-on review here. There is also a video available below this post. Have you used the Starbucks Mobile Payments system yet?
