Star Wars Battlefront 3 universe hopes without tie-in

Star Wars Battlefront 3 is one of the most anticipated games ever and the infamous delay and subsequent leaked content has only appeared to build up hype for the game further, with gamers hoping to get their hands on the next major Star Wars game just before the Star Wars Episode VII movie lands.

The last time we spoke about the game, we talked about the possibility of Star Wars Battlefront 3 having a December 2015 release after DICE boss Patrick Soderland hinted that they wanted to release their game in the same period as the next movie.

Now though, we have a small update of sorts to bring you, as it looks like rather than make Battlefront 3 a direct tie-in to the movie, it is going to a game that is more akin to traditional Star Wars lore.

As a result, players should expect to see a much broader exploration of the Star Wars universe, rather than just see environments that JJ Abrams is planning to direct in Episode VII.

This is good news for us, as we haven’t played a decent Star Wars game since Jedi Power Battles on the PlayStation 1, so we are hoping to see something massive on an open-world scale – the Star Wars universe has almost endless possibilities for DICE to cover of course.

As we are now heading towards the latter stage of 2014, we would presume that EA are getting ready to show some solid Star Wars Battlefront 3 gameplay to convince gamers that Star Wars is back with a bang and next year is going to be well worth the wait.

How excited are you about this game? If you have played the likes of The Old Republic, let us know what aspects of the Star Wars universe you would like DICE to explore and feature with Battlefront 3 to make you consider a purchase.

What should they do and what should they avoid in your opinion?
