There is no denying that the homepage of Google is a little on the boring side, so you can understand why there is a little excitement when they have a Doodle on show. Today you will notice that there is a St. Basil’s Cathedral Google Doodle, which celebrates its 450th anniversary. This most holy church is situated in Moscow, Russia, and looks splendid, just wish that the Doodle was interactive like we have seen in the past.
This image itself is very nice, but it is a little hard to make out the fine detail of the church itself. The building is situated between the G and the E and takes the place of the L, and is surrounded by a huge cloud – well better that snow I guess. We cannot help feel that Google has not spent enough time on this Doodle, but should they really?
The reason we say this is because during past events that have more meaning Google did the same thing, and did not go that extra mile. Take the Fourth of July, the Doodle was not interactive and to our surprise did not even feature the American flag. However, let’s not give them a hard time, as we are certain that they have more important things to worry about – such as taking on Facebook with their new Google+ social network.
We do find it funny how most Google users (including us) expects a different Doodle every time a special occasion arrises. We have certainly seen some great ones over the years, such as Pac Man and Jules Verne, but the best one for us has to be Les Paul, as you were not only able to play the guitar on the homepage, but also make a recording of it as well.
Now the question is what next, it would take a huge amount of time and research to see what occasion Google will celebrate next. It could be to do with a special birthday from a writer or inventor, or maybe an anniversary of a building or a special event. We really do not know, but I bet you have a few suggestions, which you can add in the comments box below.
