Sprint to get iPhone 4 and will have to wait for iPhone 5?

There has been increasing speculation in recent weeks suggesting that Sprint will be getting the iPhone 5. We have heard of Sprint reps advising customers that Apple’s flagship device will be heading to the carrier and the fact Sprint were set to offer the device with an unlimited data plan. Today we have news that Sprint are to get the iPhone 4 and will have to wait for the iPhone 5.

According to TUAW a Sprint sales person is claiming the carrier is currently talking to its staff about the soon to be released iPhone 4 for the network. Sprint are allegedly set to launch the device next month on standard data plans, which will include a $10 data smartphone premium that will be available for all smartphones the carrier provides.

The same source is claiming that Sprint won’t be getting the iPhone 5 until spring 2012 at the earliest. It is not known why the iPhone 5 won’t be coming this year, and makes you wonder if true why any customers would get the iPhone 4 with its replacement only a few months away.

There have been reports before that Sprint was going to get both the iPhone 4 and the new version, but this was supposed to be at the same time. It makes you wonder if Sprint were briefing employees on the iPhone 4 to avoid any more leaks regarding Apple’s new iPhone.

We reported before that some Sprint sales reps had told customers the iPhone 5 was indeed coming to the carrier. This led the company to tell staff to give a no comment reply to any questions customers may ask about the upcoming handset. Only this morning we reported the handset could be available on the 15th of October following comments from a mobile providers CEO.

If Sprint do have to wait until next year before the iPhone 5 hits the carrier, it is hard to imagine many Sprint customers rushing out to get the iPhone 4. Would you get the iPhone 4 on Sprint?
