Before CTIA 2010 got underway we had assumed so much, such as HTC launching the Supersonic and the Incredible — we also assumed that the Verizon Nexus One would be released. Well now after the first day we learned that the Supersonic was to be called the Evo 4G and the other two smartphones did not get a mention.
However, we can still focus on what is important, and that is the screen on these handsets. If you want to experience video playback how it was meant to be seen, then your handset will need to have an AMOLED display. The reason for this is that it will add depth and color to the image.
So we know that any new handset needs this kind of technology, so why has HTC decided to fit a standard 4.3-inch TFT LCD screen? The phone maker gives us some cool features, such as an improved 8-megapixel camera and that 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera as well, then shortchange us with a under performing screen?
The Google Nexus One – which we hope to see on Verizon, soon – has a 3.7-inch AMOLED display. As for the HTC Incredible, details are hard to come by and there is no mention as to what screen it will have. Let us hope that it is on par with the Nexus One.
