It seems as if the official release date for Sprint’s launch of the HTC EVO 4G handset is still very much up in the air. While most of you have June 13th highlighted as the launch date, some new information we’ve received indicates that June 6th will actually be the date when the phone lands.
As reported from Phandroid, we have learned that Sprint will be handing out the HTC EVO handset to ‘advocates’ early, so that they can get used to the device and train others before the handset goes on launch.
Posters on the Android Forums have confirmed that Sprint will be dishing out the handsets to advocates early, as this particular forum comment reveals some vital information for us:
”I work for Sprint and met with the HTC people today and they showed us the EVO. Man what a cool phone. They said the EVO advocates will get the phones on May 17th and be trained on them May 24th. The EVO will go on sale June 6th.”
While the phone may still be released on June 13th, we are hearing more and more reports that June 6th will actually be the final launch date.
Furthermore, those of you who are interested in pre-ordering the device, we have a leaked document from RadioShack, who reveal that they will be taking pre-orders for the EVO 4G later on this month.
Are you excited? You should be. Let us know your thoughts on the EVO release date.
