Sprint and T-Mobile USA: Possible Merger for 4G Dominance

As you are probably aware Sprint are currently the only U.S. carrier who provide their customers with a 4G network, recently their CEO Dan Hesse hinted at what the Sprint’s future may entail.

Hesse suggests that in the long run Sprint may migrate from their WiMAX network to LTE, he then goes on to say if T-Mobile USA move to LTE as well there would be “logic” to exploring a merger.

Currently T-Mobile USA have kept pretty quiet about their 4G plans, therefore a merger could be a very distant dream, however intriguing none-the-less.

Since the launch of Sprint’s WiMAX network and the release of the HTC EVO 4G it seems as if Sprint is gaining on rivaling carriers, experts suggest that a merger could see the combined company have huge 4G coverage across the U.S. which could potentially result in the merged company becoming the number one U.S. carrier
