Spotify US release date update

For all of you still waiting on a US release date for the popular streaming service Spotify, we have some news for you now, as CEO Daniel Ek has been speaking about the US launch at a recent keynote speech.

As reported from Pocket-Lint, the bad news is that we still dont have a confirmed release date for the service. It is definitely coming though, most likely towards the end of the year.

The main problem with the US release, is due to licensing agreements, as Daniel Ek explains: “In Europe, we’re sort of used to doing a deal with a collecting society and a couple publishers. But here you have to strike deals with 5,000 publishers or more.”

Lets hope it comes sooner rather than later – Spotify is great. Make sure you check out the full interview here, it’s very interesting.
