Southampton F.C. apps for fans on iPhone & iPad

After last nights 2 – 1 win against Preston in the third round of the Carling Cup, Southampton are now in the last 16 of the Cup. The home side made 10 changes to their starting line-up following the weekend’s impressive 4-1 demolition of Birmingham in the league. We thought it would be a good idea to share some great apps that Southampton F.C. fans will enjoy.

Southampton Football Club are nicknamed The Saints, based in the city of Southampton, Hampshire. The club gained promotion to the Championship from League One in the 2010—2011 season after being relegated in 2009. Their home ground is the St Mary’s Stadium, where the club moved to in 2001 from The Dell. Southampton have played in red and white stripes for the majority of their history, but to celebrate their 125th anniversary the club has reverted to its original red sash design. The club has won the FA Cup once, and their highest-ever league finish was second in the top flight in 1983—84.

In 2001 the move from The Dell to the new Friends Provident St Mary’s Stadium was a homecoming for Southampton F.C., because of the new stadium’s proximity to St Mary’s, the church where the club was founded on 21 November 1885 by members of the St Mary’s Church of England Young Men’s Association. We have found a few Southampton apps that supporters may find interesting.
