Sony VAIO W Billabong Edition: Release Date and Price

For those lucky enough to live in Australia you will be pleased to know that Sony is to release a limited edition Billabong VAIO W netbook. It is no secret that the price tag of the normal version has come into question, but Engadget reckons that it is worth the premium of this cool looking version.

The price will be $749SRP in Australia and will be released in June to coincide with the new summer 2010 Billabong range. The design of the lid is very funky with its mix of lime green, blue and black. This is the first coming together of Sony and Billabong and comes installed with images from the surfing range.

We all know that netbook users are getting younger — so a collaboration like this is certain to be the first of many. The Sony VAIO W Billabong Edition comes with an Intel Atom N450 processor, 250GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, Windows 7, 10.1-inch LED display and full 1080p playback.

More often than not it can be embarrassing to the younger trendy generation to remove an ugly piece of plastic from their bags and surf the net on it — but that is a thing of the past with this netbook. See a larger image and more details thanks to Christopher MacManus from Sony Insider.
