Sony readying new VAIO series: Thunderbolt, external GPUs and Chrome OS to feature

Here is some very exciting news for those of you who like to stick to what you know when it comes to manufacturers. Sony’s successful VAIO range of notebooks could be about to get a boost in technology as they prepare a new series that are to feature the latest software and hardware.

Rumors have been surrounding what Sony is to bring out next with talks of a sliding PC, dual screen clamshell and even a PlayStation tablet. Now it seems there are talks of a ‘VAIO Hybrid PC’ and a Chrome OS notebook that is said to be crafted similar to the Google Cr-48 designs.

As reported by SonyInsider these apparent notebooks will feature an 11.6” screen, weigh just 2.2lbs, have 8 hours battery life, 16GB flash storage, 1GB RAM and will run NVIDIA’s Tegra 2 processor.

Their so called Hybrid PC is expected to be more impressive however as it will feature an internal SSD, Intel’s Thunderbolt, have up to 16.5 hours battery life and a Core i7 processor all in a lightweight thin notebook that is capable of docking to become a Blu-Ray burner and will use external graphics for it media and gaming.
