Sony PS4 2013 release date in Europe discussed

We have some promising news to bring to our European readers now, as we have heard some details on the possibility of Sony releasing their Sony PS4 console in the region this year, rather than early 2014 as what we saw with the previous launch of the PS3. Many consumers are worried a 2014 release could be on the cards, especially with Sony’s silence on the matter.

However, Sony may be willing to make some bold changes to their European strategy this year to keep up the competition with rivals Microsoft, who are almost certain to release their next Xbox console in Europe this year along with a US launch. An insider has allegedly revealed to CVG that Sony are not going to make the same mistake twice and will ‘do whatever it takes’ to make sure the PS4 isn’t delayed in Europe.

This will obviously be music to everyone’s ears in the region as it would be common sense for the PS4 to receive a worldwide launch if possible. Stock inventory is going to be the key issue for Sony with demand so high, but at the same time it would also be deemed a big failure if EU consumers have to wait six months again, whilst everyone else is playing it in the US and EU consumers already have their hands on the next Xbox.

It is no secret that Microsoft performs very well in the UK, you only have to turn on the television to see frequent Xbox 360 adverts, compared to a much lower ratio of PS3 ads from Sony. E3 2013 next month will hold the key to all of the answers, so let’s hope that they finally confirm that a 2013 EU release is happening at the same time as the US launch.

Put it this way – Would you be tempted to pick up a next-gen Xbox instead, if Sony delays the PS4 into 2014 for Europe?
