You may remember us informing you about this last month, but now we have an update from Sony, who reiterate that 3D games on the PS3 will be coming before Summer – thanks to a simple firmware update.
As reported from this article over at PC World, SCEE’s Nainan Shah reassured PS3 gamers, that they will ‘not’ require any new PS3 equipment to enjoy 3D games, as this will automatically happen via a future firmware update.
He explained: “PS3 users worldwide will only need to upgrade the PS3 system software via the internet and there is no need to repurchase the system to enjoy 3D games.”
If you didnt know already, developers are already at work on stereoscopic 3D games for Sony, with the company keen to extend their 3D ambitions to other devices too – such as Blu-ray players.
To see how 3D games will look on the PS3, head to our previous report on Little Big Planet and Gran Turismo 5 in 3D.
Dont forget that Sony are also planning to have 3D available for the upcoming Fifa World Cup -which kicks off in June, meaning that this 3D firmware update should be hitting very soon indeed.
