In case you were away from your Playstation 3 console yesterday, it looks as if the Playstation Network (PSN) had a total blackout, causing users with the ‘fat’ model severe problems.
The bad news, is that the problem still remains, although Sony has now addressed the issue and are hard at work on a fix.
It has been confirmed that Slim models are unaffected, but the fat models are suffering from a bug which brings up the error message 8001050F, as soon as you try to connect to the Playstation Network.
This then causes some sort of problems within the system’s DRM and authentication systems, and even resets your PS3 calendar back to 1st January 2000.
Perhaps the most worrying part, is that ‘fat’ models are still affected even when playing offline, so our advice to you, is that for those of you who have not switched on your ‘fat’ PS3 over the weekend – Do not, until Sony has fixed this issue.
More specific issues found within the bug can be read over at Eurogamer. We will keep you updated on this throughout the day.
Let us know if you have been affected or not.
