Sony patent new PS Move touch controller, PS4 feature?

Sony has very recently patented a new concept image for the PlayStation Move which gives us a good indication of their future plans. It is possible that the touch based PS Move controller could feature as a new PS4 accessory in the not too distant future, allowing Sony to try and compete with the Xbox One’s Kinect 2.0 feature.

The patent was submitted on the 4th June 2012 and was published on the 5th December 2013. The new accessory is described as “a controller device with a computer gaming system“. The design of the new controller looks relatively similar to the PS3 version, except the newer one has a focused touch pad.

The image of the new PS Move controller on the patent indicates that the user will primary control the device with their thumb and that lighting will glow to give the player feedback. This feature is not included on the Dualshock 4 controller and could prove an interesting upgrade to the current hardware.

As with all patents it is not certain whether the proposed device will ever be released; however we believe this to be one of the more realistic ones given the recent launch of the PS4. Would you buy the new PS Move Controller to improve your PS4 experience if it were launched?
