IFA 2016 took place last week and we have already looked at what the likes of ASUS and Samsung offered, and so thought we would see what Sony had to offer as well. While there was nothing of interest for those of us with a modest budget, there was plenty for those with far more disposable income. A perfect example of this was the MDR-Z1R headphones and headphone TA-ZH1ES amplifier, although you are still in for a bit of a price shock.
The new Sony Signature Series headphones, and headphone amp are truly amazing, and while they do have a high cost, we are sure there are those of you out there that feel it’s a small price to pay, even if you do go for both products to help complement each other perfectly.
Looking over the MDR-Z1R specs we can see that they have been optimized for high-resolution audio, although we would not expect anything less when the cost of these are $2,200. The materials used are of a premium design, and the 70mm magnesium dome drivers along with the neodymium magnets really do add to its overall appearance and audio experience. In terms of other standout features, you will notice the use of beta titanium, which is flexible, and so keeping them light because no one ones a heavy pair of headphones when wearing for long periods of time. More details on these headphones can be found on Amazon.
As for the Sony TA-ZH1ES headphone amplifier, which costs $2,200, taking the total value to over $4,000 if buying the two at the same time. These are seriously high-quality. There is a mix of different technologies to help achieve this, such as S-Master HX digital amplifier, and an analog amplifier to help deliver clarity and low distortion of digital, along with the touch of audio magic from those analog circuits. Again, full features can be found on Amazon, and pre-order details.
