Sony hint at PS4 virtual reality headset release

Sony PS4 fans who have been hoping for the rumored virtual reality headset could be in for a treat next month as the company has announced a showing at GDC. This hints at an unveil and release for the virtual reality headset, which could be groundbreaking for gaming.

The Japanese electronics giant has announced their presence at the Gaming Developers conference to discuss the “innovation at PlayStation and the future of gaming”. This strongly foreshadows some form of involvement for the virtual reality headset which would indeed revolutionize the future of gaming, creating competition to the Oculus Rift head mounted display.

Sony has confirmed that their panel for GDC on March 18th will consist of their president Shuhei Yoshida, senior software engineer Anton Mikhailov and senior director Richard Marks. The big wig nature of Sony’s attendees suggests that they have a big announcement to make, creating a good opportunity for the virtual reality headset to be transformed from a rumor to an actual reality.

According to IGN, Sony’s panel members played vital roles in the PS Eye and PS Move, with Mikhailov and Marks certainly well equipped to have created the VRH. Our eyes will now be firmly fixed on the events of the GDC where hopefully Sony will raise the curtain and announce the next step in gaming to the world. The PS4 and VRH sound like a mouthwatering partnership.

Do you think Sony are planning to unveil the virtual reality headset or is it too early?
