Sony Ericsson Tablet: Leaked Photo Reveals 5.5 Inch Screen / Android 2.1

Yesterday we revealed that Samsung are planning to release three tablets before the end of 2010, we have now come across a leaked photo of what appears to be a Sony Ericsson Tablet.

As you would expect, details are extremely scarce, however we are told that it will run Android 2.1 Eclair and will feature a 5.5 inch display and a large slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

To be honest I do not like the look of this tablet as it looks more like a netbook, I think the iPad has set a standard for future tablets with it’s fully touchscreen interface and intuitive OS, therefore competitive devices should in my opinion follow Apple’s successful formula.

"Can a tablet succeed with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard?"

Hell yeah, this looks like the perfect up to date replacement for a Psion 5mx – roughly the same size and form factor, probably a processor that allows for a decent battery life (10+ hours hopefully), and an OS designed to suit this type of device, not to mention what looks like a decent QWERTY!

Might not be a replacement for a mobile phone, but then neither is the iPad, and this looks infinitely more pocketable and discreetly portable.
