Sony cancels E3 attendance in 2019 with innovative plans teased

Sony has shocked gamers by revealing months in advance that they will not be attending E3 next year, nor will they be hosting a separate event within the dates that E3 takes place.

The company has issued a statement to Game Informer in which they teased that they are instead pressing forward with ‘incentive and innovative’ opportunities to engage the community.

Sony added that they ‘can’t wait’ to share their plans with gamers so it will be interesting to see what the future holds now that fans will naturally be disappointed that Sony won’t be at E3.

Does this have any relation to the upcoming announcement regarding the next generation PlayStation console which is seemingly around the corner?

Give us your thoughts on this and if you can manage without Sony not having any presence whatsoever at E3.
