Sonic the Hedgehog: ‘Generations’ Release and Videos

Sega has already announced Sonic generations, but now we have more details to offer on Sonic the Hedgehog ‘Generations’, such as on its release and videos. The great thing about this upcoming game is how it manages to integrate modern gaming with old school, and they do not come much better than our spiky friend.

The latest Sonic game is expected to be released later in 2011, but as yet we do not have an exact release date. However, Sega needs to be very clever here and just hang on until the start of the holiday season, as this will be a game that many of us will want on our Christmas list. We all love our FPS games, but playing a game like Sonic will make you feel young and warm inside.

Below we have embedded a video for you with some new footage; thankfully the interview has been translated for you. With the game hitting 20 this year, Sega knew that they had to do something special; we just hope that fans of the franchise love Sonic Generations? Some of you may wonder why Sega is not updating the sounds when collecting the rings, but if they did it would lose what makes the game so great.

MTV has the first gameplay trailer for you to look at, but you need to be in the U.S. to be able to view it. Very little is known about the updated game, but we do know that there will be both 2D and 3D portions of the game, but not like you get from the likes of Black Ops. We hope to keep you fully up-to-date as we learn more.

I am pleased Seeeegggaaaaaa is revisiting its roots and focusing on what it did best in 1991, providing gamers with solid 2d sonic gameplay. I admire them for trying to take sonic in new directions, but when it did not work out, having the sense to make a change. I think this game will be awesome if Sega does it right. I can't wait to see remakes of the marble, spring yard, and labrynth zones!
