Small minority of PS3 users are now Xbox 360 owners after hack

Here’s some news which is certainly going to raise a few eyebrows or two. A survey by a respected gaming website has concluded that nine percent of PlayStation 3 users have now jumped ship to the Xbox 360, citing a lack of trust with Sony following on from their hacking crisis.

The survey was compiled by 2,285 Gamespot users and they were quizzed on their loyalty towards Sony after the PlayStation Network suffered a major attack last month. The results were highly in favor of consumers staying loyal to Sony and the PS3, but nine percent of those 2285 decided they had enough and had already started using Xbox Live.

Furthermore, a separate 5 percent of those surveyed said that they are ‘somewhat’ or ‘very likely’ to move over to the Xbox Live following on from the attacks. Our thoughts on this are if Sony has failed to completely protect user’s credit card information, then you are always going to face a backlash from users, some more brutal than others.

Nine percent is actually a small number if you put everything that has gone on into perspective. At the moment, the PlayStation Store remains down, meaning that gamers are still tearing their hair out since they are unable to redeem certain codes, or have been waiting an eternity to use DLC content.

What are your thoughts on the survey? Are you an ex-PS3 user who has now moved to the Xbox 360 as a result of Sony’s shortcomings?
