Slightly thicker iPad 3 cases begin production

When a new Apple hardware product is in the pipeline the various companies that produce accessories for it try and get products out to the market as quickly as possible. Sometimes they could be just second guessing what the new device is like, but sometimes may get leaks from the Apple supply chain. Today there are reports that slightly thicker iPad 3 cases have begun.

Last year a lot of case manufacturers got it wrong with the proposed iPhone 5, and made cases for a wider and thinner handset. According to a report on 9To5 Mac companies have begun to ship cases for the next version of the iPad.

One such company Chinee from China has started to sell cases for a device called the iPad 2S, and must be following the trend of the iPhone 4S. Previous rumors have suggested that the next iPad would look almost the same as the current model, but slightly thicker. The cases in question are claimed to fit the 1mm thicker chassis of the new model.

The case maker claims to have received information from within Apple’s supply chain, and with these cases being on sale now it may indeed mean there are dimensions of the device around. This comes after recent reports claimed the new iPad had begun production, and that Apple could even showcase the device as early as next month.

It has to be remembered though that just because a company has begun selling cases for a new iPad model it doesn’t mean they are accurate. They could just have used the various rumors about the device to come up with a product, which they believe will be suitable once Apple does reveal the new iPad.

Do you think the cases will be accurate?
