Skyrim vs. Fallout 4 DLC on PS4, Xbox One

The prospect of Fallout 4 DLC delivering a lot more than Skyrim DLC has create quite the debate amongst gamers. Some people feel that Xbox One and PS4 will deliver a lot more thanks to increased power, although others point out that while Fallout 4 might be prettier we shouldn’t expect larger DLC.

Power vs. developer time — there are those that feel just because a console has more power it should mean all games will deliver a lot more in every area, although this won’t necessary be the case for most games.

You can expect Fallout 4 to look amazing on both PS4 and Xbox One, but expecting massive worlds beyond our wildest dreams might set gamers up for disappointment with both Fallout 4 and its DLC.

It is great to explore and this is something we did for a large part of our 1,000+ hours in Skyrim, although its DLC disappointed a lot of fans thanks to the map size and die-hard fans expected bigger areas to explore through downloadable content.

The Skyrim DLC might have been limited thanks to PS3 and Xbox 360 hardware. If this is the case then we can certainly expect more with next-gen consoles, although developer time will have to be planned carefully even on next-gen systems to reach a release year and even more constraints will be placed on other annual franchise games. Processing power helps a lot but time is also a crucial part of creating a game and this alone will limit the games size.

Gamer desires for Fallout 4 DLC — we have seen a lot of feedback for Fallout 4 DLC and most of this focuses on new locations in different countries. “I’m not expecting much after promises made with Skyrim DLC, which resulted in small land expansions”, said one commenter.

Another fan added, “everyone will be expecting a lot more on next-generation consoles, and the developers know this so they will need to meet these expectations at the very least to stop disappointment”.

When it comes to location DLC for Fallout 4 we have seen a vast range of desires. The locations being thrown around by gamers include China, Russia, Europe and even US locations like Massachusetts. It seems most people want to see a world outside the United States.

Another good idea was to see small landmasses added through DLC around the main landmasses. This would really create a good opportunity for new quests close to home as well as those further away in other DLC.

Do you have high expectations for Fallout 4 DLC on PS4 and Xbox One? Or after Skyrim DLC, will you keep expectations to a minimum?

Following an article on unique weapons it seems one topic that gamers continually bring up is a Fallout 4 MMO, and this seems to be hated by the majority although it still has backing from some gamers. It will be interesting to see if this rumored plan goes ahead with Fallout 4 and how gamers react to it when we get the full details.
