Skyrim mod brings Lord of the Rings textures & more

Today one of the guys from LPteam contacted us regarding one of their upcoming mods for Skyrim, they are currently working on Lord of the Rings Skyrim Re-Texture project and we thought we would be the first to tell you about exactly what it does and what it will do in the future.

To be honest with you the name of the mod gives it away, basically the LPTeam want to bring aspects of Lord of the Rings to Skyrim. Currently the mod is in its alpha stages, but in the long run we can expect Skyrim’s cities to look like cities from Middle earth. Initially we can expect banner changes, architecture changes and even new armour designs which will replicate armour from LOTR – but as things progress we should see more and more.

Real development will begin once the creation kit arrives, here’s a few of the ideas which LPTeam let slip to me: There may be a Gondor vs Mordor theme, there will be better elf races and perhaps even totally new races such as a dwarf race which could be put into Markarth. Other things we caught wind of include bringing the white tree from Gondor into Solitude and there’s talk of inserting the Mines of Moria into the world mountain.

LPTeam assure us that they are by no means developing a Middle Earth clone, instead they want to create what they refer to as a “parallel universe” which brings the best bits of LOTR to Skyrim – sounds good to us.

Below we have embedded an early video which gives us a taster of what to expect, head over to SkyrimRetexture.webs for more details, screenshots and access to the alpha build – but please remember this mod is still in its very early stages.
