Skype Update for Android (v1.0.0.983) – Changes Include 3G Calling

In the past we have spoken about problems with the Skype application for Android devices as there were huge gaps in security that needed to be filled and also improvements in the software that could have been made. Now we can happily tell you that an update for Android devices has been released which means that these problems should no longer exist.

The news comes in from the Android Community and says that the new Skype update (v1.0.0.983) is supposed to fix these bugs that were mentioned and also add 3G calling functionality, however this is only available in the US.

If you already have Skype installed you can update the app via the My Apps section of the Android Market, if you have not installed Skype before it can be download for free here.

Skype users on Android will now feel safe in the knowledge that they can now download a safer version of Skype for their mobile devices and in doing so can enjoy the freedom to be able to call people using 3G. Are you happy to see the update?
